Capital Maritime Finance targets €200m Athens listing for boxship fleet
Marinakis-affiliated platform brings 36 containerships with $3.9bn contracted backlog to Euronext Athens in exclusive IPO.

Capital Maritime Finance Corp., affiliated with Greek shipowner Evangelos Marinakis, is targeting up to €200 million in proceeds from an initial public offering on Euronext Athens, with all shares to be listed exclusively on the Greek exchange. The proceeds are earmarked for the company's newbuilding programme and working capital requirements, according to a company statement.
Fleet composition and charter coverage#
The platform comprises 36 containerships: 13 vessels already trading and 23 under construction. The fleet consists of 26 gearless feeders ranging from 1,800 teu to 2,900 teu and ten LNG dual-fuel neo-panamax ships of approximately 8,800 teu. All available capacity is contracted through 2034, with Capital Maritime Finance reporting a contracted revenue backlog of around $3.9 billion and an average remaining charter duration of 9.5 years as of 30 June 2026. CMA CGM accounts for close to $3 billion of the contracted revenue, with Unifeeder, a DP World-controlled feeder operator, holding contracts valued at almost $1 billion.
Newbuilding programme and capital expenditure#
The construction programme is divided between South Korean and Chinese yards. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is building 13 feeder vessels, while HD Hyundai Samho has orders for six 8,770 teu LNG-capable units. New Times Shipbuilding in China is constructing four 8,776 teu LNG-capable ships under CMA CGM charters, with the delivery schedule extending to October 2028. Capital Maritime Finance has approximately $1.9 billion of capital expenditure remaining through 2028, of which $1.6 billion is covered by bank financing as of 30 June 2026. The balance is expected to come from operating cash flow and IPO proceeds.
Ordering history and market context#
Capital, under Marinakis control, ordered 18 containerships from HD Hyundai yards in April 2025 in a $1.26 billion programme covering 1,800 teu, 2,800 teu and 8,800 teu LNG dual-fuel vessels. Two additional 8,800 teu options were exercised in June 2025, bringing that ordering round to 20 ships valued at nearly $1.6 billion. The Athens move follows Capital Tankers' March 2026 placement on Euronext Growth Oslo, which raised about $500 million, and Star Bulk Carriers' September 2026 Athens offering, which raised $124.5 million while maintaining its US listing.
